How we teach - language methodology
How we teach - no miracles, just what works
We know that companies are all about getting people to agree.
Learning a foreign language does not have a universal recipe. Everyone learns differently - and we at TLC respect that. That's why we treat each student individually. In a corporate environment, we emphasize communication and base our teaching on practical situations and natural conversation.
Companies are not about perfect English. It's about people being able to say what they need to say - simply and clearly.
Communicative method
The communicative method is based on a simple principle:
we learn a foreign language best by actively using it.
Students are therefore encouraged to speak, listen and respond in the target language - naturally, clearly and as often as possible. Teaching takes the form of varied activities, exercises and practical tasks that emphasise listening and speaking. We focus primarily on real situations that require engaging in communication - whether in pairs or in a group.
No single method, but clear rules
At TLC we do not promote one particular teaching method, but our teachers work according to common methodological principles based on the communicative method.
We learn language by using it
Teaching is based on active communication - students speak, listen, respond and learn the language in context. The emphasis is on practical application of the language, not just theory.
Real situations and varied activities
Lessons are based on everyday business situations. Students work in pairs or groups, solve tasks and simulate real conversations that they can use immediately.
Feedback as part of the process
The tutor's continuous feedback plays an important role. It helps students develop not only accuracy of speech, but more importantly the ability to communicate - which is our number one goal.
Methodological principles for the work of a TLC lecturer
Individual approach to each course
Each course is tailored to the specific needs of the student or company. The instructor tailors the instruction to the language level, career focus and goals of the student.
Input information as a basis for planning
At the beginning of the course, the tutor bases the results of the entrance test, the CEFR classification and the client's requirements. This information serves as a starting point for setting the content and pace of the course.
Active learning to support communication
Teaching focuses on the practical use of language, especially speaking and comprehension. The instructor uses varied, modern and meaningful activities that correspond to students' real-life situations.
Regular verification of each student's progress
The course includes continuous testing to help monitor progress and increase student motivation. Teaching is continuously adjusted according to the results.
HR is a mosaic of roles, situations and emotions. We understand that.
What does teaching methodology actually mean - and why should you care?
Teaching methodology is not just a complicated word from a pedagogical manual.
It is a set of rules, principles and approaches that a teacher follows to make teaching effective, meaningful and results-oriented.
In practice, this means that:
teaching has a clear goal (we don't teach for the feeling, but for specific skills),
is structured, clear and student-oriented,
the lecturer knows, when to explain, when to train, when to correct and when to leave space,
Students learn naturally - in a way that suits their level, pace and working realities,
teaching is measurable, can be built upon, and you have an overview of what's really going on in the company.
In short: if the trainer has a methodology, he knows what he is doing - and your people will really learn something.
What do we do differently from other language schools?
We don't teach to templates
Our teaching is not a factory line. Every company has a different reality - some people need to practice meetings in English, others need to master communication on the shop floor. With us, each course has a purpose, a structure and a specific goal that makes sense to the student and the company.
We report clearly and without unnecessary sauce
HR appreciates having visibility - knowing who is learning what, how the student is improving and what to recommend next. We don't send you stacks of papers, but clear and practical information that you can use in your company's assessment.
We consult with you, we don't sell
First we listen, then we suggest. We can recommend solutions even where teaching hasn't worked before. And if something changes during the collaboration, we adapt. We're partners, not lesson suppliers.
We understand different professions
Our courses are not just "business English". We have experience in teaching masters, technicians, HR, IT and top managers. We are able to adapt the content, vocabulary and form of teaching to each profession so that everything corresponds to the reality of work.
